Bellaria-Igea Marina Town Council has organized a European contest to promote ideas for arranging, improving and upgrading the architectural landscape of Paolo Guidi Street, which is conventionally defined as “Isola dei Plataniâ” (Plane-tree Isle) with the aim to assume a new possible relation among this street, the afferent streets and the neighboring areas. The aim of the project was to identify a series of actions and works to be executed in order to upgrade the considered area as a whole, regarding both the urban architecture and the relation between public areas and private activities. Isola dei Platani constitutes the socioeconomic core of the built-up area in Bellaria: as a matter of fact it is highly attractive because of a consistent concentration of businesses and its cultural yet recreational activities, all taking place in it, especially during spring and summer seasons.
