According to developer's brief the new building/space should be or deal with: An iconic building which complements the existing buildings and is fitting to the desirable location; Innovative internal and external architecture will ensure the development is a positive contribution to the existing urban environment whilst maintaining the city’s relationship with the river. Sustainability: not tokenism, but a true sustainable building for the future. Prime office space on the upper floors with interesting and active use to the ground floor together with 4 car parking spaces. Potential to incorporate the existing ‘Calls Landing’ building (the next one)into the new scheme and service both buildings. Outstanding architecture required whilst maintaining viability of the project. A symbol of great design for Yorkshire – possibly with reference to the history of the site.

We have designed a six storey office building, suspended above a completely public space. A circular ring, coated with green see-through walls (ivy), hanging over the river and leaving all the ground level free to circulation, art events, social life.

Geothermal pump and roof-top solar panels help the building to control and reduce energy consumption, while see-through ivy coating modulates direct sunlight and features the entire development identity.
